Get to know me.....A work in progress.....

I am Carmella......
"creative" Carmella in my better moments, but mostly I'm just Carmella..

I am a wife....

This is my hubby and me almost 9 years ago!
I am a momma....

I  "work" from home...I say "work" lightly because it doesn't feel like work at all...it feels like therapy...my happy place....

I am a friend to the world.
I hug....a lot. Strangers, friends, family....every one is up for grabs.
I am the crazy lady at the grocery store that has no business talking to you, but I will find a reason to talk to you
{consider yourself warned}
 I might talk to you about the good looking strawberries in your cart, or maybe even ask for directions to velvetta cheese {don't judge, you know it makes a tasty dip}

I work hard at the things that matter....My marriage. My family relationships. My relationship with God.
I'm not perfect by any stretch of the imagination...and if somewhere along the way you have gotten the impression that I've got it all together...I don't.

Most days you could find me at 12pm unshowered, still in my PJ's.
I sometimes tell my kids, "in just a minute..." way too many times in a row. I want to work on that the most.
I can be a little emotional at times....I take things to heart too much.
I have self diagnosed ADD, and sometimes this means I walk in circles for hours without getting anything finished.
My house needs a good cleaning....I have put lots and lots of other things ahead of this lately and boy, is it showing now.
Most of the time, I am impatient....and I forget the "bigger picture".
Sometimes I forget to tell the people that matter to me the most that they matter to me the most....that nothing comes before them, that I wouldn't be who I am without them....
And sometimes, because I am just plain tired at the end of the day, I forget to thank God for all the blessings in my life.

The thing is...I am a work in progress.
Continual movements to get me to be the person God needs me to be.....
Forever prayerful that I am letting Him lead me in the decisions that need to be made, friendships I need to nurture, moments I need to take more time to savor.

Becoming the person that makes this statement true.....

So...that's me....

thank you.
for taking the time to get to know me a little better.....

For the Birds....

Spring has sprung...It's here, It's here!

I thought I would spruce up my mantle with a little spring decoration and this is what I came up with...

Kinda sweet, huh?

This is what I used to make it....

Unfinished Wooden Birdhouse,
 I got mine from JoAnn for $1

Mod Podge{not pictured above}

Craft Paint
 I used "Mississippi Mud" Americana Acrylic Paint for the first coat, and an "oops" paint in a grey/blue for the top coat

Scrapbook Paper

Paint Brushes

To start...Hire an assistant to paint the entire piece brown
{my assistant gets paid in hugs and kisses}

Next, I painted the birdhouse with the top coat...the grey/blue paint. Once it was dry, I cut scrapbook paper to fit the roof and painted Mod Podge on the design side of the paper. I then placed the paper design side down and smoothed it out...

I let the Mod Podge dry for about 3 hours or so...and then I soaked my fingers in a bowl of water and slowly started to rub the paper away....

As the paper starts to roll away, you will see that the design of the paper has been transferred to the wood. It's a pretty magical process and I get excited every single time I do this technique.
I like that it has a smooth painted on look rather than a bulky paper look when using the traditional Mod Podge decoupage technique

After all the paper has been removed, I painted a layer of Matte Mod Podge to finish and protect the piece....

I added a sweet little bird charm and called it done!

What do you think??
Are you as happy as I am that Spring is here?!

Tasty Tuesday.......Cherry Delight

I love it when my momma comes to visit.
There are obviously many, many reasons for this....I just love her. Every.Single.Thing.About.Her

One of my favorite things we do together is talk recipes....and make yummy food together.
This is momma's newest recipe and she's so sweet to show me how to make it and let me share it with all of you....

Crust:
1 package of Keebler Sandies Cookies
1/2 stick butter (room temp)

Topping:
1 small container (8oz)  Cool-Whip (chilled but not frozen)
3 Cups Powdered Sugar
1 block cream cheese (softened)
1 can Cherry Pie Filling

Start by heating your oven to 350. Using a food processor, crumble the entire package of cookies (in small batches) and add to a large mixing bowl. Stir in the softened butter. Press cookie mixture tightly into the bottom of a 9x13 baking dish, bake for 20 minutes.

After the crust has completely cooled, mix together the cool whip, cream cheese and powdered sugar. Spread over the crust, cool in the refrigerator for 20 to 30 minutes. Next, spread cherry filling.....and
Enjoy!!

This is a new family favorite and one that I will passing down to my kiddos too!
Thanks momma!

Giveaway From......Me

I started my Blogiversary with a giveaway from me and I only saw fit that I should end the week with a giveaway from me too....

If only there were more ways to say thank you, I would.

When I say that it means so much to me that you are here, I truly mean it from the bottom of my heart. If only you knew how much joy I get from reading the encouraging words you have left for me, or a mention about about a project that I did, that you ordered a necklace to give your friend just to make her day, or even a "like" on a facebook post....those things matter to me. They matter because you have taken the time to get to know me and have allowed me to get to know you too.
Those things matter to me.
In this world that is so busy at times, I appreciate you sitting a while with me. I truly hope that I have, in this past year, inspired you in some way because YOU have inspired me more than you will ever know.
I found my courage here....and that was all because you took the time to say that I did well.

And to show you how thankful I am, I am going to let you go on a little shopping spree...

That's right, if you are the winner, you will be able to go to my online shop and pick out any three things your heart desires.
And, no worries if you see that something is sold out {It was a very blessed and busy week for me!}
You just let me know what you want and I'll make it for you!

To enter, let that little Rafflecopter down there show you how....it may take just a minute to load.
Good luck to you, and thank you again for helping me celebrate this first year of blogging and for making me one very happy girl :)
