The Things We Want to Remember......

When I was 18, I moved from Alabama to San Diego. I moved there to join AmeriCorp, a domestic Peace Corps....I lived and worked with lots of other "kids" that wanted to sort of change the world while we were figuring out what we wanted to do with the rest of our lives.
As I flew away from my momma, I remember thinking... "I am really doing this!? I really hope I never forget how exciting this feels...."
During a layover in Atlanta, I met Corey. He was heading out to San Diego too and we became fast friends. He was the guy that made everyone want to be his friend...and by the time we landed in San Diego, I already knew something very important about Corey....he loved taking pictures.
As the weeks passed and we had some time to explore our new digs....I remember Corey always saying, "Man....I wish I had my camera for this!"
He said this about everything....and I do mean everything....the taco stand (he had never heard of fish tacos) the pier, the trolley station...pretty much every place we went. And the best part was Corey's camera was a Polaroid. What can I say, he liked instant gratification, who doesn't?

What I learned from Corey is that as much as I just knew I was going to remember all of those times and places...I don't..... and "Man I wish I had my camera for that!"

These are the things from the past few weeks that I did have my camera for...albeit, my camera phone took all of the pictures, at least I took them...and looking back in a year, or ten years from now...I will be glad that I did....

See what I mean...lots of good stuff here, and who would ever want to forget that?

Happy Saturday sweet friends....I hope this day has found you with lots of things that you want to remember too....

  1. I love this, I am one of those people who feels lost without my camera. Just in case there is something good. The pictures are adorable.

  3. This is a great sentiment. I find myself being too lazy to take photos a lot of the time and then I regret not having the memories. On the flip side, when you dig into a box and find a few snapshots of something you wouldn't have remembered,...oh wow, what a great feeling that is. Thanks for the reminder and love these pics!
