How I Turned a Necklace Into a Coat......

If I confused you by the title of this post, let me explain....

See this little necklace....

It is doing great things in the life of a child this Christmas.....

You see, I made one of these "blessed" necklaces for myself a few weeks ago.....because, well, the truth is I am blessed. We may not have the newest, the best or the biggest of anything but what we do have is so much more than many others have.
We have a roof over our heads, food on the table, clothes to keep us warm, and a whole lotta love!
After Jessica from Mish Mashed Mama did her guest post about 24 days of kindness, I really starting thinking about how blessed our family is and what we could do to give back. So, I do what I always do....I prayed. I asked God to make a way for us to help someone else in His name.
I know of a little boy who needs a coat. I know this because I see him get off the school bus on his was to an after school program. He is always the last to get off the bus and he doesn't wear a coat. He has been on my mind a lot. So on Thursday, I prayed as I took Nola to school, and then I prayed a little more.
I knew there was something we could do, I just didn't know how.....and then, I checked my e-mail.
Someone who had attended a Trendy Girls Markeplace party at her friend's home saw my jewelry there and wanted to buy some pieces so I called her and guess what she asked for....

"Do you have any of the 'blessed' necklaces left? I really liked those and would love to give them as gifts."

It was the answer I had prayed for....I would be able to buy this little boy a coat.
I cried....happy tears, tears of joy....
And wouldn't you know, and hour after that e-mail there was another one....

"Hi, I met you at my friend's house last week. I bought a few of your 'blessed' necklaces and I would like to buy some more to give as gifts!"

Oh, God......you are so GOOD!

So because God has blessed me......I am able to bless someone else in His name!

And that's my little story of how I turned a necklace into a coat :)

Happy Sunday, friends.....I hope you are feeling extra blessed today!

  2. This post is so YOU! You are not only "Blessed"----you are a "Blessing". (and if I know the Blesser like I think I do--that's why you keep being "Blessed"!)

  6. Oh, Carmella...what a wonderful story. I love it when God provides ways for us to provide for others. One of my favorite things about belonging to a house church is that we get to use our tithe money for things like what you described; really helping out where there's a need, not just paying for fancy chairs and a sound system, you know? What you are doing with your necklace profits is so beautiful. I really wish you lived closer so we could meet for coffee and be real life friends because I could use more beautiful people like you in my life.
