A Little Something for the Neighbors

Let me just start by saying we are so lucky to have awesome neighbors! Sometimes, when you buy a home you never really know what you are going to get in the "neighbor department" but we hit the jackpot!
This past Sunday, one of our neighbors came over to see if we needed any help with our (very over-grown hedges) My husband had talked with him about this before and since he had been doing similar work in his yard that day, our neighbor offered his help. And help he did...he brought over so many new toys for my hubby to drool over and the trimming began. Once it was underway and we all were hauling limbs to the street other neighbors noticed and came to lend a hand too! The job was finished in no time at all!

Today, I decided I would make a little present to show them all how thankful we are for them. I bought my very first bottle of Mod Podge on Saturday and I wanted to find something to do with it....this is what I came up with:
Mod Podge Flower Pots

Kind of cute, huh?

I started with these plastic pots, I wasn't sure why I was saving these until today :)

I cleaned them up and brought them inside to start my very first Mod Podge project!
The tops of the pots were sprayed with white spray paint to act as a primer for the paint I would add later. I traced the side of a pot onto scrapbook paper and cut it out to see how it would fit

I repeated the "trace and cut" pattern for all four sides

Let the Mod Podging begin!! I added a pretty generous layer onto the pot then smoothed the paper down and added a layer of Mod Podge to the paper, taking extra care to get the edges to lay down nicely

I repeated all of the above steps for all three pot and turned them upside down to dry for about 45 minutes. I painted the rim of each pot with a light green acrylic paint to finish them off.

And here they are ready for my wonderful neighbors complete with some Hosta's I divided up from my flower beds! It will be fun seeing their smiles when they get home from work today :)

I could make about three more of these to give out...we have ALOT of really nice neighbors! Oh, how blessed we are!
